Digifence is a modular workshop automation system built on off-the-shelf components. Start with one tool, expand to your whole workshop — no proprietary lock-in, no compromise.
I built Digifence because I wanted CNC-accurate fence positioning in my workshop without spending thousands on a closed, proprietary system I couldn't modify. The answer turned out to be simpler than I expected — off-the-shelf components, open firmware, and some good engineering.
Every part of the system is built on components you can source yourself. That means you can repair it, modify it, and adapt it to whatever your workshop actually needs — not whatever the manufacturer decided it should need.
With closed systems, if the manufacturer drops software support, that's it. Features promised when you bought it may never arrive. Digifence doesn't work that way — because you own the whole stack, not just the hardware.
Each Digifence module is designed to work on its own or as part of a wider system. Add what makes sense for your workshop now — everything else can follow when you're ready.
Most workshop automation systems sell you a black box. When they discontinue it or drop software support, you're left with whatever state the software was in on the day they walked away. Features that were promised when you bought it may never arrive — and there's nothing you can do about it.
Because Digifence is built on open firmware, plain HTML dashboards, and documented hardware, a community of users can get together to improve it, share configurations, add features, and take the platform in directions we haven't considered. No one needs permission to make it better.
If you want to run it exactly as designed, you can. If you want to dive into the firmware, rewrite a dashboard, or build something entirely new on top of it — you can do that too.
Every layer of Digifence is visible, documented, and yours to change. Here's what's actually running the system.
